Community Guidelines

NikahLink is a Muslim marriage platform. Our guidelines reflect Islamic etiquette (adab) and exist to protect every member.

The intention

This platform is for marriage only. If you are not seriously looking to marry, please do not register. Casual conversation, dating, friendship, or anything other than the pursuit of nikah is not welcome here and will result in removal.

Profile rules

  • Use your real name (or a name you go by) — not a nickname.
  • Give accurate information about your age, city, marital status, and religious practice.
  • Sisters must provide a Wali for their profile to be approved.
  • No photos are uploaded to NikahLink — this is by design.
  • Do not include contact details in your bio (phone, email, social handles).
  • Do not advertise businesses, services, or other platforms.
  • No offensive, racist, sectarian, or disrespectful language.

Chat rules

  • Keep messages respectful, purposeful, and free of flirting.
  • No sharing of phone numbers, emails, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, Telegram, or any other platform. Our filter blocks digits and social brand names automatically.
  • Use the predefined starter questions to guide conversation.
  • Do not ask for photos.
  • Do not send voice notes, files, or links.
  • You may report any message that makes you uncomfortable.

Interest and match rules

  • Express interest only when you are serious about the person.
  • Do not send interests to dozens of people as a numbers game.
  • If you receive interest and are not interested, decline politely.
  • Once matched, either proceed respectfully or end the match clearly.

Meeting rules

  • Meetings happen with your Wali informed and invited.
  • Meet in a public place or with a mahram present.
  • Keep the meeting purposeful — this is not a date.
  • Supervised video meetings are video-only, no microphone, no text chat.
  • Do not pressure the other side into meeting.

What gets you removed

  • Fake profile, impersonation, or misrepresentation.
  • Harassment, abuse, or inappropriate messages.
  • Attempting to share contact details.
  • Advertising, spam, or soliciting.
  • Multiple accounts.
  • Married men seeking a second wife without disclosing it.
  • Any behaviour that damages the trust of our community.

Depending on the severity, consequences range from a warning, to a temporary suspension, to a permanent ban.

If you feel unsafe

Use the ⚠ Report button on any profile or message. Reports go directly to our moderation team, who review every one within 24 hours. You can also block any user from contacting you.

Islamic etiquette reminders

  • Lower your gaze — avoid inappropriate curiosity.
  • Speak with adab in every message.
  • Involve your family early.
  • Pray istikhara before making decisions.
  • Remember the purpose: to build a household upon taqwa.
“Whoever is able to marry should marry, for that will help him to lower his gaze and protect his chastity.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari
