Privacy Policy — NikahLink

NikahLink respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the rights you have. It applies to all users of zawajlink.com.

1. Information we collect

Account details: name, email, phone, country.
Profile details: gender, date of birth, city, nationality, languages, marital status, madhhab, prayer level, education, profession, marriage intentions, and a short “about me”.
Wali details (for sisters): guardian name, relationship, and contact.
Usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and actions taken (for security and audit purposes).
Payment data: we do not store card details. Payments are processed by Stripe; we store only a customer ID and the plan you subscribed to.

2. How we use your information

To create and verify your account.
To show your profile to other members (only after admin approval).
To enable search, matching, chat, meetings, and engagement features.
To notify your Wali when you receive interest (if enabled).
To keep the platform safe — moderation, reporting, blocking, and audit logs.
To process payments and manage subscriptions.
To send you account and security emails (verification, password resets, notifications).

3. What we never do

We never sell your data to third parties.
We never show your photos publicly (photos are not part of the platform).
We never allow other members to see your email, phone number, or full name until you choose to share it.
We never allow contact details (phone, email, social handles) in chat — they are blocked by design.

4. Who can see your data

Other members: your approved profile (name, age, city, religious details, and “about me”). No contact details.
Your Wali: if you enable it, they receive notifications of interest and may read your chat.
Admins: to review profiles, handle reports, and enforce our guidelines.
Stripe: to process your payment (see Stripe's privacy policy).

5. Cookies and sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

6. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it (e.g. payment records).

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR and equivalent laws, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your account and data.
Object to processing or withdraw consent.
Lodge a complaint with the ICO (UK) or your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, CSRF protection, and role-based access control. All admin actions are logged. However, no system is 100% secure — if you suspect a breach, contact us immediately.

9. Children

NikahLink is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced by email or on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
